mysticfedesignsRight about now, everyone seems to be going wild about rune inspired jewelry, and it seems like few people do it better than jewelry designer Natalie Padveen, who not only owns Mystic Fe Designs, but is also the lead designer of the avant garde jewelry company.

She was inspired for this new line of rune jewelry when she went on a visit to mystic Iceland and, there, took to the stories describing the Nordic runes and their ancient powers.

The fact that rune is actually derived from “runa,” a word that used to mean a mystery or a secret, shows itself quite well in her new collection.

Specifically, the collection revolves around five main runes — Good Luck, Good Health, Peace, Protection, and Love. They are depicted in myriad ways, some involving silver, others using diamonds and 14k gold. Whatever the case, however, they are not only beautiful but will surely invite good fortune and prosperity.

chadallison_er870_platWe can all agree that, in jewelry right now, platinum is where it is at, most definitely. However, all the same, a lot of designers are turning to silver collections instead. Chad Allison is being truly one of a kind and going a completely different route. The company has never tackled a platinum collection before — until now.

Prominently featured in this perfectly fabulous platinum collection are some of the most gorgeous bridal designs you will ever hope to see, some of which are going for only a little over two thousand dollars, which are a real steal.

Naturally, all of the designs featured in Chad Allison’s platinum collection are wonderfully dramatic, even decadent in some cases — as with these to die for chandelier earrings, which promise to call red carpet attention to your earlobes — but only if you can afford the retail price of $9,425, the cost of these carat and a half beauties.

imgname-jeff_cooper_jewelry-50226711-images-diamond_jewelry_9e7f79621ecb7e621eb2d7165b7fb534One thing that I love about Jeff Cooper’s jewelry is the fact that he is to talented and so skilled that his jewelry is absolutely flawless each and every time.  It doesn’t matter if he is creating a piece that is of the bridal category or he is creating something that is high fashion, this guy really has an eye for the details and he definitely knows exactly how to work all of those precious metals and definitely knows what he is doing with some of those diamonds out there.

Take this ring for example, this ring, it is so simple yet it is so complex and it looks absolutely incredible all of the way around!  Not only does it have diamonds in it, but I think that the actual metal that is used is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and I absolutely love the fact that he used just the perfect amount of diamonds.

So really … what do you guys think about Jeff Cooper?  Does he get the thumbs up?  I think so!

ritani_anadareEvery once in a while, a jewelry designer comes along with a philosophy and a design aesthetic so beautiful, so romantic, so utterly and unquestionably exquisite, it just makes you fall in love with his or her pieces even more. That is how it goes with Ritani Anadare, who recently launched a brand new collection devoted to engagement rings, a couple of which you can see to the right.

As you can see, these engagement rings prominently showcase a leitmotif of twists — that motif is very much on purpose. Some of the pieces are made of polished gold, or white gold as the case may be, and some of them are even made of diamonds. However, the makings of the twists are less important than the meaning behind them.

Tim Spanjer, speaking for Ritani, has been quoting as explaining the twists thusly: “The twist is the human genome, the double helix of DNA. It’s two hearts intertwining and becoming one.”

With a philosophy like that, what couple would not want to go with one of these stunning rings?

hersheys-kissWhat could be better than diamonds and chocolate? Ask any woman in the world if she can think of anything that could top that, and you may have finally asked an unanswerable question.

Behold, Hershey’s Kiss Jewelry, a collection which is one hundred percent licensed by Hershey, everyone’s favorite brand of chocolate, and launched by World Trade Jewelers. What you see here is the star of an already dazzling collection, a Hershey’s Kiss pendant comprised of gorgeous pave diamonds and white gold. A variety of white gold and diamond pieces will be available in a number of different sizes. The suggested retail prices will range from less than five hundred dollars to less than eight thousand dollars — $499 through $7,999, to be exact.

There is no way an idea like this could possibly lose. We expect it will be an especially huge hit during Valentine’s day.

cobraAs promised, here is the second, snake themed piece by the innovative and elegant designer, Roberto Coin.  I find this ring extremely interesting.  This piece comes from Roberto Coin’s Animalier collection, from the Cobra category.

Yet again, this is unquestionably serpentine, yet it is not so over the top that it becomes a stereotypical, cliched mockery of itself.  This designer makes you work for it.  He will not point out the obvious, he will not do what you expect, because to do that would run the risk of creating something kitschy and potentially disastrous.

As you can see, this rose gold ring represents the scales of the cobra.  Speaking of the metal, the rose gold is absolutely gorgeous.  It is inherently soft and feminine, yet somehow evocative and sensual as well — two things which are definitely snake like.  The scales are made of complimentary pink enamel and diamonds.  The pink shade lends a sense of whimsy to the entire piece.  After all, when as the last time you saw a pink cobra?

snake-braceletThis is the first of two featured, spotlighted pieces by Roberto Coin — both of which have a sinuous, sensuous, serpentine theme.  I have become quite intrigued by the current animal trend in designer jewelry, primarily because the majority of it is so … laughably awful. Leopard print rings, bracelets with giraffe spots, gecko pendants.  I mean, I get it, it’s cute.  It’s just not really my cup of tea — mainly because I do not like tacky flavored tea.

And then I came upon the designs of Roberto Coin.  Oh my word.  You can see by this bracelet here just why I was stopped in my tracks.  It is not such a literal interpretation, and yet, this bangle bracelet from his Haute Couture Snake collection is unquestionably serpentine.  The delicate head and tail are done up in diamonds and white gold, but the real kicker is the ruby “scales.”  Oh, darling, I would die to wear this snake around my arm.
