• Tori Spelling’s Take on Jewelry

    tori spellingIf you are any kind of reality TV junkie, then you are probably well aware that Tori Spelling has gone from 90210’s favorite virgin to the queen of TV movies to, finally, mother, wife, reality star, and … jewelry designer?  As it so happens, yes, she is designing jewelry these days, along with Mehran, one of her very closest friends (or so I gathered from her first book, thank you very much).

    The question is, is her jewelry any good?  Would you want to wear it?  Well, it has to be said that Ms. Spelling’s (also known as Mrs. McDermott’s) jewelry line, available primarily through the Home Shopping Network, is pretty cool.

    I really like this particular piece, the Simulated Pearl and Black Enamel Necklace. It features dangling accents of branches and petals with a gold toned chain and black satin ribbon.

    Indeed you might not recognize the name Lorraine Schwartz but you certainly know the celebrities for whom she designs and you probably know the luxury jewelry pieces. Her most recent creation was the five million dollar engagement ring worn by Beyoncé at Fashion Rocks held at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. A massive eighteen carat diamond set in platinum, this was the first time she has worn the ring even though she was rumored to be married last April.

  • Bonhams to Sell Elton John’s “J” Shaped Brooch

    London auctioneers, Bonhams, founded in 1793 and the oldest and largest auction house of fine arts and antiques, is selling a J-shaped brooch once owned by Elton John. They expect it to sell for in the neighborhood of £12,000. Elton wore the diamond and sapphire brooch in his “I Don’t Wanna Go on With You Like That” video. He then sold the brooch in 1993. Made up of five oval sapphires, a cluster of round sapphires and diamonds, the brooch was actually created in 1935.
