Tori Spelling’s Take on Jewelry

If you are any kind of reality TV junkie, then you are probably well aware that Tori Spelling has gone from 90210’s favorite virgin to the queen of TV movies to, finally, mother, wife, reality star, and … jewelry designer? As it so happens, yes, she is designing jewelry these days, along with Mehran, one of her very closest friends (or so I gathered from her first book, thank you very much).

The question is, is her jewelry any good? Would you want to wear it? Well, it has to be said that Ms. Spelling’s (also known as Mrs. McDermott’s) jewelry line, available primarily through the Home Shopping Network, is pretty cool.

I really like this particular piece, the Simulated Pearl and Black Enamel Necklace. It features dangling accents of branches and petals with a gold toned chain and black satin ribbon.

Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry Million Dollar Creations – Who Wears Them?

Indeed you might not recognize the name Lorraine Schwartz but you certainly know the celebrities for whom she designs and you probably know the luxury jewelry pieces. Her most recent creation was the five million dollar engagement ring worn by Beyoncé at Fashion Rocks held at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. A massive eighteen carat diamond set in platinum, this was the first time she has worn the ring even though she was rumored to be married last April.

Although Lorraine has been designing luxury jewelry for over ten years, her pieces have become legendary in the last two years with female celebrities wearing hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions of dollars of jewels to one event. In mid 2007, she launched her popular Diamond Monkey Collection to rave reviews and instant success. Since she does not have a website, her custom pieces must be seen when worn at various high profile events.

Bonhams to Sell Elton John’s “J” Shaped Brooch

London auctioneers, Bonhams, founded in 1793 and the oldest and largest auction house of fine arts and antiques, is selling a J-shaped brooch once owned by Elton John. They expect it to sell for in the neighborhood of £12,000. Elton wore the diamond and sapphire brooch in his “I Don’t Wanna Go on With You Like That” video. He then sold the brooch in 1993. Made up of five oval sapphires, a cluster of round sapphires and diamonds, the brooch was actually created in 1935.

To authenticate the piece, it will come with a picture of Elton wearing the flashy brooch. The video also clearly shows him wearing it. Elton John was known for his outlandish outfits, flamboyant jewelry and garish eyeglasses. Knighted by Queen Elizabeth and having received the prestigious CBE, he decided in 1988 to clean out many of his belongings including his concert costumes and jewelry. Sotheby’s conducted the auction for Elton where a Magritte surrealist painting of a blue fish in pearls scooped up close to one hundred and twenty thousand dollars.

As many investors shy away from risky stocks and the somewhat uncertain marketplace, they are turning to untraditional forms of investing. One of these ways is purchasing items owned or worn by stars and celebrities. In addition, current gold prices are so high that this piece of jewelry is even more attractive as an investment.

TAG Heuer Launches New Collection “Grand CARRERA CALIBRE RS”

TAG Heuer, known since 1890 for its timepieces that proudly boast precision and reliability, has recently announced its newest line of diamond-studded watches for women. An elegant, prestigious collection, the watch comes in four models with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, polished steel case, fixed bezel set with fifty-four Wesselton diamonds in choice of black Opalin or white Mother of Pearl dial. In addition to the exquisite workmanship and fine movement of the timepiece, the watch is finished off with a date marker.

TAG Heuer and the CARRERA line have a long history with automobiles and racecar driving. As the official timekeeper for the INDY 500 and Team Ferrari from 1971 – 1979, the brands have also sponsored specific races, individual Formula One drivers, and been heavily involved with the Olympic Games from as early as 1920. Other sports events that include the brands are found in golfing, the America’s Cup, and skiing.

So iconic is the label, it has been worn by a multitude of famous people including General Eisenhower, Enzo Ferrari, Uma Thurman, Lewis Hamilton and Tiger Woods. Steve McQueen even wore a custom piece called the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph in the 1969 racing movie “Le Mans”. Bollywood, Indian actor SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) wears the brand and Miss World 2000, Priyanka Chopra, another Bollywood star is obsessed with watches and of course TAG Heuer is found in her collection.
