That is how it goes with Ritani Anadare, who recently launched a brand new collection devoted to engagement rings, a couple of which you can see to the right.

As you can see, these engagement rings prominently showcase a leitmotif of twists — that motif is very much on purpose. Some of the pieces are made of polished gold, or white gold as the case may be, and some of them are even made of diamonds. However, the makings of the twists are less important than the meaning behind them.

Tim Spanjer, speaking for Ritani, has been quoting as explaining the twists thusly: “The twist is the human genome, the double helix of DNA. It’s two hearts intertwining and becoming one.”

With a philosophy like that, what couple would not want to go with one of these stunning rings?

The Peace Sign, originally created to protest the bomb, quickly grew to become an iconic symbol of peace worldwide. Feeling despair over the testing and building of bombs, a textile designer, Gerald Holtom, decided that a tidy symbol was needed for their disarmament campaign. Designing an “N” for nuclear and a “D” for disarmament finished off with a circle enclosing the letters, it was indeed the simple sign that people sought.

Many critics laughed and said it would never catch on but like all things iconic, the symbol has stood the test of time. And what is even more interesting is that the creator did not copyright the design. Having deliberately not registered it, he allowed the world to own it. But it holds its rightful place on Holtom’s headstone on his grave.

To commemorate the significance of the peace symbol and to celebrate its birthday, I have chosen to highlight several lovely Peace jewelry insignias in various budgets.

HeavenlyTreasures.com has a magnificent array of Peace Symbols encrusted in diamonds, red rubies, blue sapphires, and yellow gold. For about six hundred dollars US, the glittering peace earrings with red ruby circle, white diamond letters all set in fourteen carat white gold, are a luxury item for the most enthusiastic jewelry lover.

WendyJoDesigns.com, a little mom and daughter enterprise, offers a selection of cultured pearls, freshwater pearls, and Swarovski crystals in their Peace jewelry. A very delicate piece, the peach crystal necklace with three strands is designed with both peach and clear colored Swarovski crystals and peach cut seed beads. A sterling silver peace sign hangs from the bottom.

WorldPeaceJewelry.com creates very unique designs with turquoise, coral, brass, and amethyst. For the flower child in you, the gorgeous turquoise and sterling silver bracelet complete with tangling peace sign looks beautiful.

Peace be with you!
